Welcome to the A38 Corridor Access Opportunities Consultation

The A38 corridor of the National Park is identified in the National Park Management Plan as an area of opportunity. Areas of opportunity offer potential for increased use if managed sustainably with improved recreation infrastructure. We want to work with you to identify opportunities to improve the existing public rights of way along and surrounding the A38 corridor.

Please only submit comments on routes along the A38 corridor of the National Park that radiate out from Ivybridge, South Brent, Buckfastleigh, Ashburton and up to Bovey Tracey, comments can be made for routes on either side of the National Park boundary. When making comments think about opportunities that would create better recreation links between towns and villages, improve links to access land and identify opportunities to create circular recreation routes (walking and cycling) from settlements.

You can use our mapping tool to:

1. Suggest new links – identify the potential for new routes where there is currently no access, but the creation of a new link would better join the existing public rights of way or access land or would help to create a circular walking or cycling routes


2. Rights of way network – these improvements would be help improve use of the existing network, suggestions can include
   • Surface and drainage improvements i.e. to make a route easier to use
   • Furniture improvements i.e. changing a stile to a gate
   • Change to multi use i.e. upgrading of a footpath to a bridleway, where this would help create circular routes or better links
